Ejercicios de Condicionales en Inglés B1-B2

Los condicionales en inglés son uno de los puntos gramaticales que más se evalúan en los exámenes Cambridge. En esta guía de ejercicios, trabajaremos los cuatro tipos con correcciones detalladas para que identifiques exactamente dónde fallas y por qué.


Bloque 1 — Zero Conditional: Verdades y Hechos

El Zero Conditional expresa verdades universales o hechos que siempre ocurren. Estructura: If + present simple, present simple

Ejercicio 1: Completa con la forma correcta del verbo

  1. If you heat water to 100°C, it _______ (boil).
  2. If I _______ (not eat) breakfast, I feel tired all morning.
  3. Plants die if they _______ (not receive) sunlight.
  4. If you press this button, the machine _______ (start).
  5. Water _______ (freeze) if the temperature drops below 0°C.

Soluciones:

  1. boils
  2. don't eat
  3. don't receive
  4. starts
  5. freezes

Bloque 2 — First Conditional: Situaciones Futuras Reales

El First Conditional se usa para situaciones posibles o probables en el futuro. Estructura: If + present simple, will + infinitivo

Ejercicio 2: Forma oraciones en First Conditional

  1. (you / study hard) → you / pass the exam
  2. (it / rain) → we / cancel the barbecue
  3. (she / not hurry) → she / miss the train
  4. (they / offer me the job) → I / accept it immediately
  5. (we / leave now) → we / arrive on time

Soluciones:

  1. If you study hard, you will pass the exam.
  2. If it rains, we will cancel the barbecue.
  3. If she doesn't hurry, she will miss the train.
  4. If they offer me the job, I will accept it immediately.
  5. If we leave now, we will arrive on time.

Ejercicio 3: Corrige los errores

  1. If she will come, I'll tell her the news. → _______________
  2. If he study more, he will improve. → _______________
  3. We'll go to the beach if the weather will be good. → _______________

Soluciones:

  1. If she comes, I'll tell her the news.
  2. If he studies more, he will improve.
  3. We'll go to the beach if the weather is good.

Bloque 3 — Second Conditional: Hipótesis Presentes e Irreales

El Second Conditional expresa situaciones imaginarias o contrarias a la realidad en el presente. Estructura: If + past simple, would + infinitivo

Ejercicio 4: Completa con Second Conditional

  1. If I _______ (be) taller, I _______ (become) a basketball player.
  2. She _______ (travel) more if she _______ (have) more money.
  3. If we _______ (not have) this meeting, I _______ (go) to the gym.
  4. What _______ you _______ (do) if you _______ (win) the lottery?
  5. He _______ (buy) a house if he _______ (can afford it).

Soluciones:

  1. were / would become
  2. would travel / had
  3. didn't have / would go
  4. would / do / won
  5. would buy / could afford it

Nota: En el Second Conditional, usamos were para todas las personas con el verbo to be en inglés formal: If I were you... (no If I was you en registro escrito formal).


Bloque 4 — Third Conditional: Hipótesis Pasadas e Imposibles

El Third Conditional se usa para situaciones hipotéticas en el pasado — algo que no ocurrió. Estructura: If + past perfect, would have + participio

Ejercicio 5: Transforma las frases usando Third Conditional

  1. She didn't study. She failed the exam. → If she _______, she _______ the exam.

  2. He missed the flight. He didn't attend the conference. → If he _______ the flight, he _______ the conference.

  3. They didn't invest early. They lost the opportunity. → If they _______ early, they _______ the opportunity.

  4. I was tired. I made mistakes. → If I _______ tired, I _______ so many mistakes.

  5. She didn't receive the email. She didn't know about the meeting. → If she _______ the email, she _______ about the meeting.

Soluciones:

  1. had studied / would have passed
  2. hadn't missed / would have attended
  3. had invested / wouldn't have lost
  4. hadn't been / wouldn't have made
  5. had received / would have known

Bloque 5 — Mixed Conditionals: Combinación Avanzada

Los Mixed Conditionals combinan el Third Conditional (pasado irreal) con el Second (presente irreal), o viceversa.

Tipo A (pasado → presente): If + past perfect, would + infinitivo

  • If I had studied medicine, I would be a doctor now.

Tipo B (presente → pasado): If + past simple, would have + participio

  • If he were more organized, he wouldn't have lost the documents.

Ejercicio 6: Completa los Mixed Conditionals

  1. If she _______ (study) law, she _______ (work) as a lawyer now.
  2. If I _______ (be) more careful, I _______ (not send) that email yesterday.
  3. He _______ (attend) the dinner last night if he _______ (not be) so shy.

Soluciones:

  1. had studied / would be working
  2. were / wouldn't have sent
  3. would have attended / weren't

Consejo para Cambridge B1/B2

En el Part 4 de Use of English (Key Word Transformation), los condicionales son muy frecuentes. Practica estas transformaciones:

  • She didn't prepare, so she failed.If she HAD prepared, she wouldn't have failed.
  • He's not brave enough to try.If he WERE braver, he would try.
